“Waves” to be screened at TIFF
Belmin Söylemez’s short film “Waves” has been selected as part of the ‘City to City’ programme at Toronto Film Festival 2010. The programme focuses on Istanbul with 14 features and shorts. There will be one industry&press screening and also three public screenings for “Waves”. Director Belmin Söylemez will attend the public screenings for Q&A sessions.

“Waves” tells the story of young boys learning to swim in deep waters of the Bosphorus, Istanbul. “Waves” was shot casting real life characters for a scripted story.

The film has received ‘Best short fiction’ award at the  Istanbul Short Film Festival, at ‘Special jury prize’ Antalya Film Festival, Turkey, ‘Best Film’ award at the Cine-5 TV Channel Short Film Competition, Turkey and ‘Special Mention’ at the Milano International Short Film Festival, Italy.
